Chapter 204: Fire Prevention
Services provided by the Fire Bureau:
- Inspection of registered businesses within Fire District 4
- Investigation of all fires within the district
- Fire reports after investigations are concluded
- Public education programs including Fire Prevention Week activities at area schools
- Review of construction plans
Do I need a permit? You might. Please contact the fire bureau to be sure at least
one week before the event or activity. No permits will be issued before an inspection
of the location is completed. Please fill out this Permit Application
A brief list of activities that require a permit:
- Open flame at public gatherings such as cooking appliances
- Bonfires
- Kitchen commercial hood suppression systems
- Firework Displays
- Welding and cutting operations
- Tar pots and kettles
- Torch down roofing operations
- Group overnight stays (such as within a church or school, for example)
- Flammable and Combustible Storage
- Liquid Propane Gas Exchanges
- Tents, canopies and mazes

Residential Property Resale Inspection
As is in most municipalities, Jackson Township requires the owner intending to sell one-family homes to obtain a Certificate of Compliance prior to sale.
